Brad Dickel

Brad joined Essex Police in 1994 and is currently the rank of Inspector. He is also an experienced Counter Terrorism Security Coordinator.
During his time as Specialist Operations Inspector, Brad excelled in managing complex and high-risk departments including Search, CBRN, Marine, Drones and deployed as a Water Incident Manager and Swift Water Technician.
In his current role, Brad has been awarded colleague of the year for the exceptional support and investment to both the Taser and Personal Safety teams. Brad is a well-respected critical debriefer, Health and Safety lead, qualified Trainer, and Assessor, JESIP lecturer, and experienced force coach and mentor.
Brad studied at Cumbria University completing his degree diploma in Counter Terrorism Risk Management.
As Essex lead and Eastern Region Counter Terrorism Security Coordinator, Brad has hosted various national events, together with leading on a host of high-profile security operations. These include numerous Presidential State visits to Stansted Airport, protection of the King and Queen and other Protected Persons, Queen’s jubilee and funeral and the Coronation of King Charles III, together with numerous Festivals. Having sat on national working groups, Brad has contributed towards best practise drawing on his Disruptive Effects Tactical Commander experience to impart his knowledge and broaden collaborative practises.
Brad spent the first 20 years of his service in a variety of front-line uniform and priority crime roles. He was instrumental in the creation of various specialist teams designed to combat acquisitive and organised crime for which he was nominated Rural Police Officer of the Year. As a public order Sergeant and Inspector Brad has deployed to civil disorder and unrest throughout the country.
As Unit Commander for the multi-award-winning Essex Dog Section, Brad was instrumental in introducing Forensic Recovery Dogs to the specialist search portfolio recognising opportunities to professionalise investigatory practises.
